'Thank' message appearing in the SERPS?

 11:19 am on Mar 7, 2012 (gmt 0)

A colleague of mine just forwarded me this picture.

I've never seen it before, have you?

If pressed this appears in Google+ :

Your +1 helped me find this. Thank you!

No, I've never seen it. It seems like you would need to be logged in to see it, right? It's a very personalized message.

Yep, I read about that on the various blogs today. New feature. You can thank people for plussing you.

Who say's Google doesn't have a powerful plan to engage via Google+

It's not the only tactic I'm seeing recently in the SERP's

as webmasters, we were assuming that a +1 on its own was a good thing for our sites. but maybe another user now has to confirm that the +1 was useful before google starts giving our sites a boost?

after all, the whole +1 thing was just another way for google to measure the quality of a site. so this new 'thank' thing must have a similar purpose.

i reckon that is what its for. google must be inundated with spam +1s. so they have introduced this new thank thing to weed out which ones really count.
