In webmaster tools under "+1 Metrics" then "Activity" you can see "New +1s from your site" vs "New +1s from other sites". I'm under the assumption that "other sites" is exclusively SERPs at this point. I'm getting around 15 +1s from "other sites" per day on average right now for my site, but havn't seen a jump as of Oct 18th which is the last day of data in WMT.

| Can anyone think of an explanation for this |
| Well I've never used these social-networking buttons, and don't know much about them. But it's my impression that if your button gets clicked by someone who has a lot of followers, then some of those followers might also come to your site and click it too. Could that explain what you're seeing?

Same thing here. 14 year old site, had 3+'s for the last 4-5 months, today it jumped to 7. [edited by: travelin_cat at 11:02 pm (utc) on Oct 20, 2011]

Could it be "better reporting" from Google's side? +1 is at 40m in recent reports... quite a way to go to hit fb's 500m...

Hit 41 this morning for my homepage that's 13 in 3 months then up 28 in a day. Hopefully this will make some positive effect on serps if it continues. I'm guessing they are being shown much much more in serps, sudden change overnight.

I burned my 15 year old white hat last weekend. I am buying +1's at $5 per 1000, fb likes at $40 per 1000. Shows which is in more demand now doesnt it:)

| The +1 Button and Google+ are two different things. -- Ryan
