Does Google measure web site capacity and adjust rankings accordingly?

 10:25 am on Jul 28, 2011 (gmt 0)

One of my websites has been having capacity problems for the last few weeks. It was already hosted on one of the beefiest servers I could find. Over the weekend (low traffic time), I moved to a new host that could do load balancing in front of two beefy machines.

The surprising thing to me is that Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday after the weekend when I upgraded the hosting have been record Google referral days. I'm trying to decide if I was being sent that traffic before the upgrade and my server just didn't see it because the site was slow, or if Google sees the additional capacity and adjusts the site reputation and ranking higher as a result.

If the Server had been slow the logs should have been showing some "206 Partial Content Delivered" errors.

Off topic: I have been struggling with the capacity problems myself. Currently on Quadcore 8GB RAM server. Which server(s) did you move to? do you recommend any hosting company?

I'm now on two quad core machines with 2GB of memory behind a load balancer. My site is CPU and network hungry, not so much disk space and memory. I'll send my hosting company via private message since the forum rules don't allow such recommendations.
