Confirmed yes, toolbar update is rolling.
Googlebot is crawling my website like mad since yesterday, including lots of old pages that are 404 or noindexed since more than 1 year.
Could this be related to the PR update ?
Seeing a site wide PR update on all of my sites, most of the sites picking up in ranks, can some one confirm?

Woke up today, to a lovely surprise of one of my main websites, the one that I consider my baby, has dropped from a 5 to a 3. Massive kick in the balls, after years of hard work.

I can confirm that an update is rolling... Overall, I'm satisfied with the results.

My crawl rate also sky rocketed in the last day or two. It went from very low (relative to site average) to the highest I've seen in 3-4 months. Very strange.
Pr updated for my site from 4 to 3
Is it normal to see grey barred PR in the toolbar ("No pagerank information available", not PR0) for lots of sites while the update is rolling? Or has my Google Toolbar broken?

I see changes, looks like it was calculated last month.
my website still PR1 the other 3--1

[edit reason] Please no specific urls [/edit]
I am seeing -1 for most of the top level important pages (6 to 5 now) except Home page which is unchanged.
Can Confirm UK
I see Google UK been demoted to PR7 from PR8 also seen some sites go up to PR8
My own site went from 1 to 3 and another site from 4 to 3
Not that it means anything but i think the measures here are a little optimistic, my site that raised has no links in the last 2 years the site that dropped has had some great links ... Hey ho business as usual
Confirmed, went down one! However so what? One of my pages for "blue widgets" is a PR5, my competitor has a PR3 yet he is several spots higher in the SERPS.
|Have the rules changed on link drops? |
Seems to have done so today and both newbs...
You know, if I could restrain myself from changing my url structure every year, I might actually get a TBPR one of these days. But I have to keep mucking with it.
confirmed for Bulgaria :-)
My PR drop has pissed me off so much, I've not touched my site today and I've told my lead dev to take the day off and I'll tell the part timers the same later. I'm thinking about selling up and investing in something that doesn't rely on Google.
I had no idea, a PR drop would effect me. Let alone to the point it has. But I really feel like Google has just shat on years of hard work.
I realise it *shouldn't* effect earnings or traffic. But it's still not the point. My competitors don't produce content, they scrape it and then buy links. Yet they're +1. I produce unique content, acquire links naturally and wake up to -2.
It defies all logic. One post I made since the last update, received at least 15 PR5 links, which in itself is more than a new site my brother started, which now has a PR4.
I just don't see the logic. When things become illogical, they become pointless. As there is nothing to aim for. What's the point in continuing to produce great content that acquires links, when Google does #*$! like this.
I seriously feel deflated and demotivated. Defeated maybe.
Google, I detest you.
realmaverick; What happens if pr drops and traffic goes up? We are all here for one thing and one thing only "traffic" forget the PR this is such a small part of the plan it just might not have a farting thing to do with organic ranking now. PR is an ego deal better to forget it and stay focused on the important aspects of what your doing. Keep producing the work let the varmints scrape ya sooner or latter this will be dealt with and, then you will be were you and thousands of other sites should.
It almost seems like there is a new way of calculating PR with this update. I have around 50 websites and I have never seen such a generous PR update before.
Every website except one went up with a lot of PR5's.
I haven't a clue what the PRs are on any of my sites and I simply do not care, never have, never will, why get so upset about a cr@ppy a$$ed bird?
@realmaverick - take a day, or a week off, and then revisit when you feel better. Seriously. The PR doesn't mean a thing. One of my primary sites just dropped from 4 to 3; that site is looking at half a million pageviews today - all time record. Ranks like nobody's business for hundreds of terms, outstripping far bigger entities than I am. Will probably be up to a million a day by next week.
PR (toolbar or otherwise) not a quality score. It doesn't mean your site is "one less gooder" (!) than it was yesterday. It's not even current. It's voodoo math. It means some of your internal pages PR may have been shuffled or your backlinks got shuffled or whatever. It's *last* metric I think about when I'm dealing with a site, my own or for clients. Because the successful site owners chase users, and traffic, not green bars.
Do your users feel any differently about your site today than they did yesterday? No? Then WTF cares about PageRank?
Still Panda slapped to hell but man, I went from a PR 4 to a PR 6. Weird. Goes to show you that even with a high PR, your traffic can still be affected by the "quality score". Agree with all you folks on this: PR != Traffic.
My TPR hasn't changed since 2004. (Panda and other tweaks have beat my site to a pulp, but my TPR is still hanging in there! I don't get it.)
But at least there is something stable in G. :)
Yay! My keyword rich domain went from a 0 to a PR2!
Didn't change my rankings though. Still #11. Haven't cracked the front page yet :).
Nothing yet seen in my sites
M. Cutts when from PR7 to PR6.
See very few PR10s: Google, Gov.org and Facebook..
