"new" google images layout rolled out in germany

 10:23 pm on May 12, 2011 (gmt 0)

Perhaps germany was the last country with the old images-search layout. Until today...

I could see the new layout (.de) actually in chrome and explorer but not with firefox. A lot of people confirmed it via twitter. But there are actuelly some change going on - seems that google just rolles it out.

I was surprised when I clicked a thumbnail. The picture is not shown in an iFrame as in the .com-imagesearch. The source-website is loaded directly.

Thanks for that report - it's good to keep track of all these changes.

Using google.de Image Search from New York City today, I still see a framed page when I click on the image enlargement and go to the website that is the image's original source.

@tedster: ah, sorry, yes, true. There is still the frameset, but the half-transparent dark layer isn't shown and the "single" picture in front of the layer is missing. It's just the source-website in a frameset.

Was the change due to legal reasons?

@sgt_kickaxe: no idea...
