|Moving web hosting to a different country. Will this affect rankings?|
| 1:15 pm on Sep 29, 2010 (gmt 0)|
I have a .com tld website that has been hosted in USA for over 8 years and the main audience are the USA surfers.
The majority of the traffic comes from google. I don't want to disturb the ranking at all.
I need to find a new hosting provider in either Canada or UK or UAE.
Is moving the website to a new country a good idea? I know I can set the country in google webmaster tools.
Have you moved your site to a host another country? Did your google traffic suffer as a result?

Traffic will change as leading search results do depend on geo-location (subject to the content you expose).
If your main audience remains in US then why change, just use a host there.

I would not recommend moving the hosting out of the US if the majority of your traffic is from Google US.
