Wow - 30! Last week I heard reports of some people getting a test SERP with 20 results, but 30 is quite major.

It looks odd - but that might just be because i'm a creature of habit. On the positive side, i have loads more page one results! Interestingly i'm seeing the number of results per page vary as i click through results (p1 to p2 to p3 etc)

Yes, this is happening to me also. It is actually part of the AJAX SERPs as well. I have more details on this where Tedster knows where to find it. But here is some of that content: I'll do a random search, lets say for: [google.com...] Then I will enter in a new search term and the URL will keep the original q=driver+run, but add more parameters. i.e. [google.com...] This got to be the AJAX SERPs that blew up a year ago and that Google promised would come back again. notice the num=30 also, that is why I see 30 results.

Also getting 30 results per page - but only when I switch to faking Chrome as a UA. With Opera - I don't even get the homepage doodles. I don't have alot of faith in G's ability to pull off an AJAX serp. Given their long and problematic history with browser incompatiblities on serps - I honestly wonder if they (or anyone) can to do it right.

Re the press event, this will probably be one of the product announcements that they'll "pepper in". Just announced by Eric Schmidt.... Google TV Service to Debut this Autumn http://www.webmasterworld.com/goog/4197932.htm [webmasterworld.com]

I will actually be on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams tomorrow night about this stuff. Who knows if they will cut me, but I am doing a pre recorded interview tomorrow at 1pm (EST) or so.

30 is overkill, it will be more of a loss for Google than benefit. If they will change the search results I am leaning towards 20. They will probably do this to have more space for the social media stuff (video, tweets, photos, etc) we'll see what happens tomorrow..

30 per page will probably cause some loss of traffic for the top rankings
