| Rel="nofollow" - does it taint a site forever?

msg:4194961 | 11:46 am on Sep 1, 2010 (gmt 0) | I have a site, which is linked to from many of my other sites, not behaving as I would expect (hmm....though maybe that's not such a surprise at the moment). But one significant feature is that most if not all of its links were once rel=nofollowed. Now I've removed that tag, and it hasn't really responded in the search rankings. Could thi sbe a residual effect of the tag? Fred

Placing links between your own sites can backfire, so I would be looking there...
