Backward Links found by G, not real.

Today I was checking the backward links to new pages posted about a month ago. Google backward links checker found back links to the new pages from internal pages that I have never placed any links on pointing to the new pages.

Example: G found back links to page A coming from page B. But page B does not have and never did have links pointing to page A.

Hmmm, any thoughts?

Google backward links checker

Are you referring to the webmaster tools "Links to your site" ; the webmaster tools "internal links" ; or were you using something else?

I've seen this as well when pages are similar, it seems google can link related pages across a jump (ie:between two pages linked by a category page but not linked together).
