It's almost a year that Google has been very unpredictable about the PageRank and Backlink updates. It's definitely good for Google and it keeps the SEO's guessing. We can never forget BigDaddy. But these delays / lagging updates are definitely not helping website's "search engine branding activity". Customers really feel bad when the PR is Zero or drops. We all know Google Webmaster Central has no update on PageRank details of the website and does this means Google has no intention to re-consider PageRank again in the webmaster central.

That should tell you something.
PR is very over rated these days and what really matters is the traffic your getting from the serps. If your traffic is good and you are showing up, it's time to train your clients to quite worring about the magical green bar. In fact, tell them to remove the Google toolbar all together and your life will suddenly become much less stressful.
I've got sites that have 0 pr consistantly beating much higher pr sites. I don't even have the spybar installed on my main computer anymore and don't bother checking pr much at all. It's a waste of time.

If you're selling text ads on your site that green bar is very important. If you're exchanging links even more so. That little green bar increases the green exchanging hands in website selling too.
Pagerank isn't all about ranking. It's got a life, and several industries, of it's own.
I think that's the main reason Google are trying to supress it. Sick of people making money off of something they invented ... despite the reverse being true ... ;)
Agreed, however most clients of SEO types are not selling ads on their sites. They have been conditioned to think that a high PR is equal to a high ranking and we all know that simply is not the case anymore.
None of my clients sell ads nor do they care abour PR anymore because I have conditioned them to stop looking at the stupid green bar and look at their traffic and position instead. Since Google updates the visible PR 3 or 4 times a year now, it really is a futile effort chasing the green bar if your not selling links.
If you are selling links based on the green bar, then your days are numbered because what are you going to do when Google removes the green bar from the toolbar?
