How do I get a search box in the Google results pages? kennydubose msg:4054778 9:20 pm on Jan 5, 2010 (gmt 0) I did a basic search on Google and the first result that come up had a box where I could search the site from Google's search engine page.
My site currently does not show that box when I search for it using example.com
Do I have to have Google site search installed on my site for this box to show up in the search results?

Yes I would like a few of those also :) It's a pretty major signal of authority and I expect it takes years and a very solid brand and website to make the grade. Robert Charlton msg:4054824 10:45 pm on Jan 5, 2010 (gmt 0)
The box generally appears for only very large sites that Google sees are frequently searched internally. I doubt that having Google site search installed would be enough to prompt Google to display the box in the serps. You need to be a major site.

PS to the above...
At the time the Search Box appeared, there was concern about whether it would help or hurt traffic and customers. Interesting now that it seems to be seen as a desirable thing to have.
Chances are, though, that there's still no consensus.
