Google with a new look

 12:12 am on Jan 4, 2010 (gmt 0)

I fired up a search and got a realy new look to Google SERP's, sidebar, blue submit buttons. Looks like it's a way to bring in tweets and delve into date related results.

I haven't seen it yet, but we did have a report here a few weeks back that the "blue-button" look was in testing. I'll post a link to that thread if I can locate it.

The big problem with this is you can no longer tell what is adwords and what is not. With all the shopping and other junk in there, you have to now assume that it is a paid advertisement in the serp until proven otherwise.

You know what the next killer search engine will be? a clean interface where I can quickly see the top 10 results on information I'm searching for.

Maybe I'm turning into a dinosaur, but when I'm looking for info (and that's what I use the SE's for) I want the info. Not a three ring circus like all that is.

Why can't I have an interface like this. Search box at the top and page split down the middle. Ajax to show me scrolling organic results down the left and scrolling paid results down the right, as far down as I need to go. Done. Wonder what would happen if Bing did that? Or if Yahoo let me set my preferences to 'clean' so that's all I saw?

To keep this discussion from being split in two, I'm locking this thread.
