Getting backlinks to blog categories -- good idea?

Recently I have been acquiring a good deal of links to a particular blog category which has a lot of landing pages within it that I want to rank for. Is this a good approach at spreading link juice to my landing pages or am I better off just trying to get a link to them individually?

You may also want to note these are high PR blog roll links so I would rather not have them directed to some minor landing page that may only get me 5 visits per day even if it is number 1 in SERPS.

Any suggestions?

again I am getting links to this: blogname.com/category/linked_here/

Category pages can often be problematic, since they are a collection of information republished elsewhere on a site. Often, Google does not "like" such pages

External links can obviously help the ranking of these, as can additional unique information to take them away from being a simple list of links/snippets to being a more standalone content page.

Blogroll links can help, but not as much as a "natural link". Google is now smart enough to know when a link comes from an article (editor's link) or from a blogroll (vanity/friend/reciprocal link). Too much blogroll links can be a waste of money/time.
