| Wrong dates in snippets for some Google news sites

The site is crawled regularly and is published in Google news several times daily. However in the SERPS if you search for a 'keyword + news' it shows a date that is several days older than the date of the last indexing. Why would that be and can it be controlled? Cheers

I've seen this kind of date bugginess too, and I have no idea how a webmaster might influence it, except possibly by employing microformats [webmasterworld.com].
