This is the second of the new features announced by Google Labs....
Official Google Blog post here [googleblog.blogspot.com]...
|Google News Timeline organizes information chronologically by presenting results from Google News and other data sources on a zoomable, graphical timeline. You can navigate through time by dragging the timeline, setting the time scale to days, weeks, months, years, or decades, or just including a time period in your query (i.e., "1977"). |

This is cool but I'd like to see something which is a Flash based timeline with a kind of film-like Minority Report Scrolling effect. This is new tech after all!

Something that has bothered me about Google news:
and do a search for "XML".
You will find a few stories about XML... but mixed in are all these posts that are "available as XML" (read: RSS). Wow, helpful, not. I know, it's not a catastrophe, just a peeve.

this is just what the doctor ordered; i have always had a hassle querying archival information, performing research. i just read an article dating back to 1995 that gave me details newer articles on a bombing didn't report.

Very unpleasant UI. G is usually master in quality UI design, but Google News, and now this new feature have a very poor interface. Otherwise, it's a great tool. It will be helpfull to integrate it with Google News, make it a feature there.
