I noticed two new options showing up on Google News for me today:-
Recommended for you
Local News

Recommended for you requires a sign in

Local News simply requires a city, state or zip code.

This may have been aorund for a while, but it's the first time i've seen it, so it could have been around for a while and another Google user/geo roll-out.

I've been using the Local News version for many, many months now while at my job where I don't want to sign in.

I never bother with anything "recommended" for me so I'm not sure how long that's been around.

These features have been available to US users for about a year. According to the Google News Blog for March 27, they have now been rolled out for Canada, the UK and India.
