Adding Missing Heading Tags... Any reasons to be cautious?

I have a website that has no header tags (H1, H2, H3)
I would like to add them but would like to know if this would negatively effect Google serps?
Are there some words of caution you might have?

Quick terminology correction... these are heading elements.

Yes, you should add them, where needed. A heading sits above, and introduces, the following paragraph, list, table, or form.
