New Google favicon - or do my eyes need adjusting?

I am suddenly seeing an explosion of colours in the favicon area of the browser when visiting google sites.

A white 'g' surrounded by Google colours... it's gonna take a bit of getting used to I think.

Looks good. Noticed it when using Chrome.

i think the design by André Resende is much better than what they finally went for

I thought so too, that's the one that 'lept' out of the page when I looked at the blog. I can see why they brightened the colors up a bit, but moving the g over to the left just makes it get lost.

Congrats Google, you can be as ugly as MSFT. Eye Sore! How do I block this?

I thought the original design was better that their amended one. Still, quite a cool claim to fame: "several billion people look at my designs every day".

It's too busy for so small a graphic. Simpler is better. Just the one 'G' is also better for branding. I do like Google's famous day graphics, though. They are always fun and well done.

I liked the old one better. v2 I guess it was. Uppercase "G." Or was that lowercase?

No fuss. no frills... isn't that what goog is known for?

This new favicon is too busy.. too colorful.. oh well...

I do like Google's famous day graphics

As I now have the iGoogle home page, I never get to see these any more :( I think they should have them on iGoogle as well.

It's kind of nice but since is so colorful it catches my a little bit, I like that they did the lower case middle g it stead of G much more interesting shape and more distinct of Google.

I don't even see the search home pages anymore - all my searching is done out of the browser search integration.

I meant that I don't see the famous day graphics any more. But I don't have the favicon either - has it been rolled out in the UK yet or just the US?

Yep, I got it yesterday from co.uk

Added- The main site, not iGoogle and not logged in.

I'm in the UK; I have the favicon in all my Google Search pages (incl iGoogle).

Not sure what you mean by day graphics - I still get the 'theme' images; much better in iGoogle than the gmail selections (Why can't we choose the same for both!?!).

The BBC have (finally!) noticed this Google Revolution - but their story [news.bbc.co.uk] is clearly having trouble reaching the Required Excitement Quota, so they've beefed it up with all kinds of red (and multi-coloured) herrings!

That is what I meant. Maybe I'm not getting them because I have an artist theme installed. I guess I could always go back to classic, but there's so many shiny themes!

I stopped being disturbed by the new favicon rather quickly and now I kind of like it - it helps me spot Google pages that I have opened very quickly.

Now that a couple months have gone by for us all to get used to it, I'm wondering how the new design sits with others.

it jars my senses every time i see it.
it's alarming and a little bit sickening.
my least favorite of all the G property icons by far.
