I have a dilemma, I am in the process of database'ing a clients website and they do not want to move hosting accounts. All they have available on their hosting package is ISAPI_Rewrite not a MOD_REWRITE
Is a ISAPI treated the same way in the search engines as a Mod_Rewrite? They have quite an old establised (HTML) website and I am keen to keep the same file structure. The alternative is 301 all the old html pages to the new .asp pages
ISAPI Rewrite is a third party application that gives an IIS server the same functionality as .htaccess and mod_rewrite on an Apache server. Yes to 301 redirects, yes to regex based rules, yes to maintaining all your old urls while you introduce asp or aspx functionality.
