Google Local Exploit - API

I'm getting tired of seeing so many illegit listings on Google Local. One spammer is taking 99/100 positions for a city-specific search in G Local. The problem is that this person hasn't only attacked one city, this is going on across the nation with thousands of different positions. They use addresses like "suite 111111, city, state" and that's it. No street name. They have hundreds of virtual 800 numbers that all go to the same call center. I've heard that some people at Google are pretty upset about it and are working on it, but it seems that the spammer is so deeply embedded that it's a major undertaking to get them out.

Another thing that frustrates me about this is that almost all the sites were just created at the end of July of this year. Somehow in less than a month they have managed to become a dominant force in Google Local for their industry. Legit submissions take months to get in but this spammer got right through.

I'm outing this because I know Google is trying to fix it. I won't lie, I've taken part in this on a much smaller scale, but now that I see it works so well, I just might have to ramp it up. :)

Local search is still the wild frontier, but my bets are on Google to bring a new sheriff to town!
