New WMT sitemap "high response time" error message

This is new. WMT stated this as an error:

Some URLs in the Sitemap have a high response time.
Some URLs listed in this Sitemap have a high response time. This may indicate a problem with your server or with the content of the page.

According to WMT our average load time is about 1.1 seconds. The one page the singled out seems to take about 2.0 seconds to load.

I guess this is just to tell me that this page is taking above average time, but it seems kind of useless considering the load time is still rather quick.

Interestingly enough, this is a page with just two paragraphs and no unusual content compared to the rest of the site.

May be a server load issue ?

Possibly. It was the only page cited.

Interestingly enough the error message is now gone. Maybe at the time it was spidered there was an issue.

My initial point though was to show that WMT is flagging load time issues with a warning.

Interesting. Page load times are always 0.2 to 0.6 seconds for a site I have been working on since last year.

However, WMT Crawl Stats updated today, and the graph shows that sometime last week, and for one day only, page load times spiked above 2 seconds.

I have no idea if that was a hosting problem, or a bottleneck at Google's end.

I saw the same error and it went away too. Probably G was testing a shorter load time and most servers couldn't handle it.

I also get this "error" message from time to time at various sites -- they always go away pretty quickly without me doing anything. So far I've just assumed it's a temporary glitch and nothing to worry about, but if it continued for any length of time (over a week), I'd look into it more thoroughly...
