Differences in how internal TBPR is distributed on sites

I've seen some irregularities on several sites recently with how TBPR distribution is showing for /directory/ index pages and pages inside of /directories/.

I can't say whether some pages (and/or directories) are penalized (or just have had the TBPR obfuscated), but I do know that TBPR looks to be a bit whacked out, and IMHO all it'll do, if people examine the situation and PR distribution, is encourage more aggressive IBL practices, even to the point of <gasp> buying. Other people: not me, I wouldn't bother dancing to a tune that changes.

>>> /directory-1/ has some inbound links to pages. index page is grey, interior pages show PR.

>>> /directory-2/ has some inbound links to page, index page is grey, interior pages show PR.

>>> /directory-3/ has no inbound links, all pages are grey.

>>> /directory-4/ has no inbound links, all pages are grey.

I see this sometimes, but not always. I recently did a TBPR study of one site where itmost definitely showed a different pattern - with good PR on directory pages with backlinks.

What I'm seeing is PR0 on the index (main) page of a given /directory/ but decent PR - PR4 (as would be expected by the homepage - PR5)on the interior pages of the /directory/

I confirm with Marcia that I see the same thing for directory-1 types on one of my sites. I can't comment on additional directories because I have limited the site to a 1 directory deep structure for PR reasons. I noticed a while back that every new directory knocked 1TPBR point off a page so a directory under a pr 4 link got 3 and a directory under the 3 got 2 and so on.
