I have read that a way to improve site ranking , especially of internal pages is by writing and publishing articles that will also ijnclude a link back to your site
is this true?

Article writing seems to be less helpful than it was a while back - there are many possible reasons, including heavy copying from article directories as well as scrapers. However, if you can publish a new article on a well respected site as a "guest author" and they give you a link, that can still be helpful. As with all link acquisition efforts, I'd say emphasize quality over quantity.

You can find a lot of discussion about article writing in both our Link Development forum [webmasterworld.com] and our Content, Writing and Copyright forum [webmasterworld.com].

A Site Search [webmasterworld.com] will turn up many comments here about that particular site. I don't have any personal experience with them.
