Something wrong with my site structure?

I can see that Google has only 2 of my pages indexed, and I really do not understand why. Can it be a problem that Google know my site as www.example.com and I have a redirect to www.example.com/oscommerce?

I'm new to this, and a little worried about doing something completely wrong.

Any recommendable good tools to make a sitemap?

Thanks!

[edit reason] switch to example.com - it can never be owned [/edit]

Hello rhonda, and welcome to the forums.

In terms of sitemap tools - Google has a page for the third party tools that they say support Google Sitemaps, online and desktop:

[code.google.com...]

Also note their own generator tool for your server, written in Python:
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/docs/en/sitemap-generator.html

Redirecting the domain root to an internal directory can be a problem, as well as many other pitfalls. I'd suggest you read through the Google pages that are related to the above links I posted - and set up a Webmaster Tools account with Google to get their feedback about what they are seeing.

Such redirects are, in my experience, always a major problem, and eliminating them will almost always help with search engines.

a) What kind of redirect are you using? Please describe the situation and what kind of content you do or don't have on your default page.

b) Why are you redirecting?

I'm using a redirect from cpanel > Redirects > [mysite.com...]

b) Why are you redirecting?

Because I have moved to a new webhost, and somehow the oscommerce catalog ended in /oscommerce rather than in the public_html root :) Quite annoying, but I am a little afraid of changing this, also because I cannot overlook the consequences regarding possible loss of search engine history/ranking
