no need for rumors... its out! here's the sneek peak:

LG Electronics, the world's fifth-largest cell phone maker, unveiled a new model Wednesday, which offers the full services of Google, the global No. 1 search engine....LG said the handset, dubbed LG-KU580, will hit European markets including Italy and France this week with a price tag of somewhere between $300 and $400.

"Google's strong search services are just one click away with our phone as we put a hot key that directs users to Google services in a fraction of a second"

"In addition, the phone provides other Google services such as e-mail (G-Mail) and map-viewing (Google Earth). We hope this will be a grand slam" Choi said.

so now its gunna be iPhones vs. phones with iGoogle on em? iThink should be interesting (lol).
(enough Jobs gotta worrying about MS...now he's gotta worry about google phones? hmm..wait...if iPhones run apple's new browser...they can have iGoogle on em too! iPhone's ftw? not)

Seriously though.. LG is the maker of very popular designs (eg. chocolate phone) and korea phone makers have been rapidly growing their market share based on their extension experience and success in Korea (undoubtably one of the most advanced in the moble market).... a phone with speaks to Googlers of the internet world to their small screens can't be a bad thing for either.

May this will be something similar to waaaay back when...when we used to all say Google made its early headway as being the "un-portal-simply-search, search engine" (simplified, natural results) while everyone else was paid-listing or portaled up.

A slick phone with simple access to a simple google UI given all the complicated phone services and interfaces...
iBelieve that iSee a winner.

so sayeth iGrendelKhan{TSU}(tm patent pending.lol)

What, no GPS? ;)

Roughly six years ago, Sergey Brin and Larry Page discussed the future of the internet in a Commonwealth Club presentation that was broadcast on public radio.

One of Page's more fanciful images of the future (or so I thought at the time), was his vision of a mobile search device that would "replace neon signs." He anticipated that you could drive around town and your mobile screen would help you find what you were looking for.

If there's no GPS in this one, I'm sure it's coming.

hmmm lets see

- Simlar sleek design to LG "chocolate phone" (ok)
- $300 - $400 (bit high-end. average in Korea. dunno in Euro)
- Google search hot key (a MINUS for me)
- first time all 3 google major applications, search, email and maps, incoporated into phone (will have to see)
- mp3 player (yawn)
- 2 megapix cam (yawn)
- video phone/see others face while talking (have this in Korea for a while - never used it. I found I dont' actually want to actually see people or have them be able to see me when I'm on the phone most of the time. heh)
- bluetooth (duh)

anyway...all said and done.. I think I'd still opt for an iPhone over a...er...gPhone. heh

He anticipated that you could drive around town and your mobile screen would help you find what you were looking for.

Not that radical a "vision" considering we actually already have something like that in Korea...in reverse. Its via the car navigation system you can buy anywhere for a few hundred bucks. its all 3-D with down to the buildings and you can call the places direct from the navigator.

Haven't seen a drop in the number of neon signs as a result though. lol =P

What is the benefit to Google for doing this? Its not that innovative, kinda seems like you average phone with a google button.

as I've seen said around here...
if MS owns your desktop, then Google owns the web..

but mobile is up for grabs.
