Are you talking about major updates? In that case no. Gone are the days of the monthly Google dance. Those were the good old days when SEO was simple. Each month you saw how you did and made adjustments. There was kind of a rush to them too. Like watching the roulette wheel spin.

I just managed to get .edu link which I am hoping will help my pr4 site. Would the pagerank help from that link start showing up in the search results after the source & destination pages are indexed? One other issue was that the .edu page was not linked from anywhere and so had no PR. I politely emailed the author about the missing link and it was promptly fixed. I wonder what sort of ballpark timeframe it would be before I start seeing any result (assuming the link helps my site at all).
