PR of some URLs of English Wikipedia is dancing. It might be PR update coming, but other sites I checked don't show any PR fluctuations.

Yes! Backlinks updated on all sites on my default UK google - reflecting the recent updates on singular dcs.

Yes, we see update "Tinker Bell" spreading her pixie dust across the data centers today for our sites.

Since i started reading the forum i check every news and... yeah my backlinks were updated as well.
Now they're back to zero again.
I hope i'm just seeing things.

Looks like a major cleanup of freehost/redirect spam is underway, with some normal collateral damage to innocent sites. Finally some progress on all that garbage that Google has been in love with since july 1st.

I'm seeing big SERP changes; anyone else?

For me it's just the opposite. I lost several WH sites and I'm no longer suprised. What a waste of time.

One site was riding high on google in the past week got record visitors yesterday and this morning it has bombed. None of my site effected in june 27th cull have come back either.
Will be interested if anyone can pin point what filters etc have been added this time.
I dont design my sites for google I design them for visitors but all the time I seem to get hit.

Just last night I was hand writing more content and feeling very optimistic about my new site. After doing a lot of BH stuff I was finally doing something 100% WH and I was liking it because it's always nicer to make a good site for users not bots. Now I've been punished for what? Putting my site to a subdomain of a webhost? Adding Analytics tracking code yesterday?
I'm going back to building doorway pages. At least they work and survive these updates a lot better. Tell me when the end-of-the-summer update is here.

I do not think Google will punish you for anything you did last night. If your site is still young (less than one year) keep cool and be patient. The first year is an up and down in serps.

my site is 7 years old! got effected this summer

"Tinker bell" is fixing our urls from the preffered domain switch we flipped a while back it looks like.

OK, I read all the way through just for fun. Now I really gotta ask;
Who fishin cares?
1. They aren't TRUE figures
2. Data center watching may/may not be of any use now or in the future.
So what's the fuss about? Updated or NOT, the data is skewed.
Or have I missed something?
1:04 pm on Sep 16, 2006 (gmt 0)
have a missed something?
Yes, the fact that google keeps messing about with its serps on an almost constant basis - the world of everflux
Frankly, i dont know about anyone else but im sick of it - remember the days when we had some stability in the google serps?
1:17 pm on Sep 16, 2006 (gmt 0)
Messing with Google, believe me, that's not a business model.
1:29 pm on Sep 16, 2006 (gmt 0)
I noticed on sitescore that the back links kept changing when I ran the test - meaning the bls update is not complete? Although it is stable on my default uk.
2:00 pm on Sep 16, 2006 (gmt 0)
Once again gang... Google is not now, or ever again showing true BL counts... so why are we watching it?
I just don't get it?

you may be right. just a couple of days ago, my site ranked approx. #30 and my category returned 140 million pages on 90% of the datacenters. I am now seeing my site at #8 with serps returning 74 million pages on 80% of the datacenters.
if that's really the case, then it would seem like a huge, huge cleanup with half the pages being removed!
...then again, i could be seeing things...

On June 27th my site disappeard and then it was gopne from Google until the beginning of August when it came back, although not as good as it was before June.
It was up and down a bit during August and September but kind of stable and I, in my ignorance, thought that my site have made it through Google rediculous updates but then, yesterday, Sept 15th a new so called update happened at Google. They turned on old cache pages and God know what they did but my site is nowhere to be found again. Traffic is down 75%, Adsense is just rediculously low and other income from the site is zero percent.
I am soooooo fing tired of Googles crap. They think they can remove spammers with algos but all they do is to get a list of trusted sites that they can't affect and then they go from there because all I see now are spam sites, fake blogs and other crappy sites.
Is this crap ever going to stop? Guess Google don't give a **** about it. Some guys I read about made 71 grand from spam site in less than 2 months, so Google get their money anyhow. They don't really care.
I hate Google :(
