I have a few questions about what "the results given" of certain Google commands/operators mean.
Just to give you a little backround, I recently did a mod_rewrite to my website from a 2-3 variable dynamic php links, to static ones about 3 weeks ago. Google hated it of course and tossed all my pages except the homepage (i did have 301s in place btw). My website has around 18,000 pages (it's an ecommerce site)and I could never get more 200 pages or so indexed prior to the rewrite which I thought would help me.
Anyways, I use Google Sitemaps to check my progress and thought I noticed a change for the better a week ago.
When I do a site:www.example.com it brings back Results 1 - 2 of about 1,020 Why would it only display 2 pages? It doesn't even give me that duplicate results message underneath.
When I do a allinurl:www.example.com it brings back 1 - 1 of 1
I guess I just don't understand how Google could tell me I have 1 page to my website and then show more in the index.
