I went to the Google+ page for one of my sites this morning and discovered a new look that included the largest "cover" photo I've ever seen.
The thing was so big it pushed everything else down below the viewable area. It's so large and obnoxious that I'm now thinking about I'll giving up Google+ pages.
In recent months I have seen:
- Malfunctioning Google Docs - Malfunctioning Adwords - Chaotic changes to AdSense - Slower and slower DFP - And, more appropriate to this forum, so many gyrating changes to search and SEO that they border on whim.
I've seen this kind of cracking before in my long career. It usually starts to show up in a company that is maturing and is taking more and more extreme measures to maintain the growth of its stock price.
Yes, Google is profitable and the stock is high. But for how long?
A company that emphasizes authority and trust is eroding both in itself.
