So its 3g with verizon lockin? big ol "meh" - 2 year contract means this sucker is going to cost the average consumer about 1800 bucks in service fees alone. I can't imagine its worth it.

Partly why I dislike these little mobile gadets. They are just electronic devices with big fees sucking cash out of your bank account.

Yes, I understood that the Google tablet being released for the holiday market would be chrome OS. This is unofficial from one of my students who works at Qualcomm (maker of the chipset.) He brought over a prototype to show me. Very thin. I was interested to see that the processor, et al are housed in the hinge.

Google tablet running verizon? Maybe they should have mentioned this when they were pitching the Google/Verizon pay toll version of the internet. To be avoided imo, this worm has a hook.

Nexus one has been discontinued in just a few months after dismal response in the market. Wonder how this tablet is going to compete with Apple iPad on one side, Palm WebOS tablet in development by HP or a bunch of Windows 7 based tablets. There is only so much Google's much vaunted PR machine can do.

| J_RaD has a bad attitude on this. I know, because it matches mine exactly and this is what I'm often told. Last week my wife asked me why our close friends do not ever seem to have any money when we know their income is about the same as ours. Two reasons are they buy new cars they don't need really need and their bill for "little mobile gadgets" is close to $2,000 more a year than ours. | Yes, I understood that the Google tablet being released for the holiday market would be chrome OS. | I wonder if this kind of gossip is put out to get people to hold off on making a purchase. If so, it's working. I've got the $ to buy an iPad, but just from the hassle factor I'm not going to another gadget until I absolutely need it. The "little mobile gadgets" are not only money sucks, they could be time sucks as well.
