The announcement just came by email. Here's the online version:
Google Affiliate Network, formerly DoubleClick Performics, is pleased to unveil a refreshed ConnectCommerce user interface. We have made improvements to overall navigation and usability and have updated colors and styles to reflect the new Google Affiliate Network brand.
Well, I got suckered into getting excited about this real good. I just looked, and all I have to say is "that's it?"
They've changed the color scheme and branding, but the functionality is exactly the same.

Not only that, I already had an account with Doubleclick Performics which as I understand it is still supposed to work, and I can't log in. I even sent in the password change, got the new password for my email address, and *still* can't log in.

I have had great success with the Adsense Referral program. So when I saw that they were replacing it with the new Google Affiliate Network, I immediately tried it. In a nutshell:
1. It is anything but seamless. You can't use your Adsense login. You need to create a whole new account and wait for approval. I never even got an acknowledgement email.
2. The site (connectcommerce.com) is unbelievably SLOW. Be ready to stare at the hour glass for minutes.
3. When you click on "Get Links" there is no listing of advertisers by "category." Just an alphabetic listing of ALL advertisers spread over hundreds of pages. You need to look page by page hoping to find a category of your choice. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!
I am pretty much giving up at this point because the site is practically useless. What a disappointment. If this is a shadow of things to come, Google is history. Sergey and Brin must be too busy jetsetting, posing for magazine covers and planning the space trip.
