This is a great article. I'm not one to alter my browser chrome or to use themes, but these tweaks make Gmail easier for me to use. The new Gmail themes simply lack contrast. One of these tweaks makes it so that you can quickly determine what's read and what's unread. I implemented most of these tweaks and once again enjoy my Gmail experience. YMMV
