When I wanted to log into my gmail account this morning on [gmail.com...] I was greeted by a message which roughly translates as: | We can not offer gmail services in Germany. Here we use the name Google Mail. If you are located in Germany you can access your mails on http:// mail.google.com Oh, and we would like to link to the to the page mentioned above but are not allowed to. Bummer. |

I guess this has to do with the fact that the brand gmail was already registered and used by another company in Germany when Googles Mail service came up. So if you are travelling in Germany use mail.google.com and say Google Mail. However this seems only to affect the login page. Emails to @gmail.com are still going through from Germany.

Interesting. Now it's redirecting to another login page on google.com.

Today its showing the message above again. It seems as if they cannot make up their mind about this. Or it depends upon browser or language settings or IP address or a combination of all of the above. I'll keep you updated on the great gmail - I mean google mail mystery.
