what is rss and what does it do.
Hi i'm just browsing at the moment and was just wandering what RSS and what it actually does.
Is it similar to CSS?
Is this thing server sided? It looks like a language.
Oh wait this is in the browser sided section.
cmatcme, it is a way of syndicating content. You create an RSS format file and save it to your server like an HTML file but with a .xml extention.
This content is then viewed in RSS readers, there are many available, Bloglines is about the best free reader and it is web based.
If you do some browsing around this forum, you will see the abilities and also links to various tutorials.
A lot of questions have been asked about displaying etc and I think most have been answered.
Good luck in your quest!
Here is probably one of the best pages on rss I have come across - [mnot.net...]
