Welcome to WebmasterWorld Guest from 220.127.116.11
a) My site uses ASP. I want to display the news from various RSS feeds on html pages that reside on my site. How do I do this.
b) I believe every feed has 5 to 10 news or may be more. How can I syndicate these news, ie. I want to choose News from different feeds. eg. If I want to lets say display 3 news, News No. 2 from Feed A, News No. 5 from Feed B and News No. 9 from feed 3. How can I do so? These group of news I want to display on different pages.
c) Can I allow only the paid membership members (not for Free members)to have access to these news. Are there any legal issues as the news are published by third party publishers who give free news and I would restrict it to only paid members.
b) Not exactly sure what you are asking here. If you want to take feeds from everyone and in the display intermingle different articles, this probably won't be allowed by a lot of the ToS from the distributors.
c) Again it depends on the ToS of the distributors. None of my RSS feeds says that they cannot be used in a 'members-only' arena. Never throught about it. I wouldn't think this would be a problem.
Feed A (http://www.feed-A.com/feed-A.xml) has
Feed B (http://www.feed-B.com/feed-B.xml) has
Feed C (http://www.feed-C.com/feed-C.xml) has
I want to display on my site only
News 2 from Feed A
News d from Feed B
News i from Feed C
How can I do this? Is this called syndication of news?
Check this article first:
Then check out:

Also be sure to check out this Caching with ASP.net article also because it will be helpful:
[aspnet.4guysfromrolla.com...] - and there are online video tutorials at this URL also.
With regard as to whether different people will let you intermingle their feeds - still not sure on that one - check the ToS for each site and see if they have thought about it.
