I wrote a rss feed ap in php but I don't know what content-type header to spit out for it.

its rss 2.0

my options from my research are:

application/xml+rss --> I think this is wrong as I did not see it at IANA site

application/xml --> is registered the IANA site but not very commonly used

text/xml --> this one seems the most correct to me

comments any one?

Just to add to the confusion - I've also seen

application/rss+xml

Any gurus?

If you're talking about the HTTP Content-Type, then you should use "text/xml".

RSS is a standard for describing particular kinds of information, but is still written in XML.

XMLX is right. All our feeds are text/xml
