Microsoft Start
Microsoft following Google again?

 10:45 am on Jul 28, 2005 (gmt 0)

I've just come across the Microsoft Start homepage - [start.com...]

It seems as if it will be MSN's answer to Google's customised homepage. Thoughts?

I thought Googles personalised homepage was Google's answer to MSN's Start! ;) It's gone through several variations so far and been around for a while.

This recent incarnation is pretty nice - I use it regularly. IMO Google's pesonalised homepage is "student page nasty" and needs some real work.

Start on the other hand looks pretty good.

The feed poping up when you open it was a kinda annoying upgrade from the previous version, but you get used to it.

Both are still in perpertual Beta though, so perhaps should reserve judgement just now. ;)

On a site that features news for nerds the article claims this is a project that two summer interns are working on.

/1 and /2 were earlier versions. They released /3 with a sort of competition thing (using MSN search I seem to recall, but I could be wrong) - each correct answer revealed a part of the new URL (was kinda cool! :)).

Wouldnt be surprised to find that this was a small project - seem to be toying with different ideas, etc.
