I can't get a grasp on this MSN thing to save my life. There are plenty of examples of easily SEO'd pages which rank well and not.

| If I recall "search" is Y! results and "sea" is the new MSN, correct? |
| There havn't been any Y! results on any msn searches for a few months now. The only difference I can imagine you were seeing between the two were from geo targetting - eg. .co.uk and .com both return relatively different results.

| Not true at all. I get Yahoo referals from MSN all the time - right from here: [sea.search.msn.com...] These are Yahoo results - for sure.

Ahh, so I got it backwards. Yes "sea" a definately Y! results. JK I don't optimise for MSN, just Y! and G, feel M will change things anyway. In fact they changing things now and that's why I'm getting more and more from them in the last couple weeks. I was nowhere when they went off beta. Thanks

I don't understand what's happening with MSN ... but then again, I haven't spent a lot of time searching there because the results are so weird. I did a search this morning for a term (let's say it was "Pork Island"). The results I got did return a couple of good sites for "Pork Island" but most of the results were for pork recipes and a couple of other things containing pork. However, if Pork Island were a real place (which the term I searched for was) ... then presumably by typing in both "Pork" and "Island", chances are pretty good that I wasn't searching for recipes. If I had been looking for pork recipes ... that's the term I would have searched! If you search MSN for a map of any given place, half the results given are site maps! I've reported this bug to them three times with no change. MSN rolled out with a reasonable algo a couple of months back, but clearly, whatever they are doing now is screwed up more than just a little. The results are just plain weird and I can't be bothered trying to figure it out. The current algo is messed up. Look for big changes (again) in the coming months. They can't leave it as is if they plan to comete with Y and G.
