im seeing a new google homepage?
when did this happen?
I just saw this about 5-10 minutes ago, and I seriously thought my lack of sleep was having a bad side effect. Notice the keywords being highlighted in the domain names and filenames? Oh also, Froogle is being MUCH more prominently featured, anytime you search for a pretty popular product, the top miniresult is 3 results compiled from froogle! Btw, Google News is also being featured. I wonder what kind of impact, if any.. this will have.

yup and the adwords are different too, new google gui! =)
Yep there is a change right accross their site
It was like that for a short time late last week.
Maybe it'll be sporadic until they settle on the new one?
Yes! Looks pretty cool.
results seem optically cleaner.
Search terms highlighted in url (might make a case for naming sub-folders after keywords).
Adwords on the right seems to have been given more width on the page, very "in-your-face"
I caught a glimpse of this a month or more ago and I think I tried to post it here in the google forum and it never got approved.
Of course it is their corporate option but I feel this new "look" is rather...cool.

Lol, slade I tried to post this right now in the google forum. Then I realized somebody must've posted this in another forum because of how frustrating it is to wait to get a thread approved. I'm also seeing mentions of this happening before (without froogle/news prominent) intermittently.
woha their web results page has changed too.
Yes, it's the design they have been testing for months now.
I don't remember - on the occasions that this has popped up in the past, was it ODP and Directory free, as it is now?
looks pretty cool! I have just spotted the changes and looked into this forum in case to see if people noticed those changes, hoped to be the first but many people already commented what happened at google.
any major changes in results noticed?
Google groups layout has changed too.
do you think the ads get higher CTR with this design?
No Directory-Listing under websites anymore... I wonder if this is a temporary glitch.

What happened to the Dmoz directory?
No data description or cat in listing!
Nice look will take a while to get used to it.
search term now highlighted in the url even if embedded
search for blue widgets
No more hyphenated urls?
it looks pretty yuck .. too confusing .. on my screen resolution, i see a lot of white space between search results and adwords and it looks weird .. may be something got to do my screen resolution 1280x1024 ..
This is the new interface that folks like WebGuerrilla liked and have been asking about when it would roll out. The UI team has done a pretty incredible amount of work, experimentation, and testing on this design. Try it out for a while; it grows on you. :)
hey.. I like this new look :) Very Cool :)
Well that's what my "chiapet" said to my 3 years ago so I will rock and roll with this new incredible new-fangled "pet-rock" of an update! It's all good! :)
eventually...the right switch will be pushed

Yep. very true. They're now pointing out in bold every place where they've found words that match the query.
The question becomes -- are they just pointing this out for the users benefit? Or are they also saying (to webmasters) that keywords in the URL, directory names, and/or filenames are getting increased weight in the algo?
It's a good look, GG.
Highlighting key words in the URL is definitely interesting. I had 'heard' that key words separated by more than two '-' would be ignored. Doesn't look to be the case.
Whooaa, thats a huge change. Without the green background the Adwords ads seem very insignificant. Premium spots still seem to standout though.
When I search for Widget Pictures it also says If your searching for pictures try this and has froogle link.
I like the new design but it begs a question.
Does Google Directory exist any more?

They seem to look more like the 'organic' results to me, actually.
