My hosts use Zeus server (I'd rather they used Apache) and I'd like to have mod_rewrite-type functionality, but I don't know if there's an equivalent of this for Zeus. Does anyone know if this is possible with Zeus server?
Yep, Zeus supports rewriting, but it has its own rule syntax that isn't directly compatible with Apache rewrite scripts. The syntax seems to be much more of a structured, pseudo-code style.
Apparently, the Zeus control panel allows you to paste in Apache mod_rewrite scripts and it will translate them into it's own format (more or less successfully), but I'm guessing that your hosts don't allow you access to that :(
I've looked around, but I'm afraid I can't find any guides to the rewriting syntax, sorry...
Thanks sugarkane - thats a great help just to know that it is possible to have rewrite functionality on Zeus. You're right about not getting access to the Zeus control panel - I might install the trial version on my machine and use that.
Anyway, thanks again!
<added> In case its of use to anyone else, here is a couple of links to the zeus web server FAQ/documentation that explains the rewrite / htaccess module functionality:
