OK this may seem really stupid - but what's the syntax to add comments to a .htaccess I've been searching but keep getting links to apache blogs with comment buttons tried these <!-- long shot --> & /* no hope */ with expected results ;) Ta, Limbo

You just start the line with a hash (#) IIRC ...
