I need to create a subdomain like so:

img.site.com that really forwards to:

site.com/dir/

I.E. If someone has a link that is img.site.com/60/58/test.php it will replace the img.site.com with site.com.

This is so in the future when the load is too high I can move all files onto a new server and point img.site.com to that server.

Any ideas? I am using web hosting manager with Cpanel on Linux/Apache.
