Apache rewrite rule for virtual domains
How to use rewrite to creat virual domains

Is there an apache rewrite rule so that I can setup one IP based site and then have different domains goto a subdirectory?

For example:

I have www.joe.com points to:

/var/www/html/

I want wwww.frank.com to goto:

/var/www/html/frank.com

but of course I don't want it limited to just frank.com.
I cannot make a <virtual for each domain. I am using a product from ensim called webpliance so the only way I can do it is with an apache rewrite rule and to be honest I cannot make heads or tails of the syntax. It seems just as bad as sendmail syntax!

So, does anyone know how to do this or does anyone know of a site that can explain to me exactly what is going on with apache rewrite?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

If nobody jumps in with a solution and you're forced to do it yourself, this search [google.com] produced several tutorials that look pretty promising.
