I've got a js menu bar on my site that is called externally, in IE it's great and my whole web site layout looks the way I want. In NS it's a joke, and my menu bar doesn't even show up. Is there a way that DHTML/JS can be used in both? I thought the script used from dynamicdrive had crossbrowser support but guess not.

any clues?

There certainly are cross-browser techniques for DHTML. Without knowing exactly which script you are working with it's hard to give specific help, but Dynamic Drive has all kinds of scripts. They aren't all cross browser.

They have a legend at the top of each one that identifies which browsers a script is supposed to work in.
