| what are the main causes of js not working

My site makes use of js on numerous thumbnails and I get people saying that nothing happens when they click on them. I know the #1 would be a pop-up blocking program; however, what are the other causes of js links not working? Also other than turning off the blocker program.....are there keys that will allow for js when held down. I want to create a trouble shooting check list that I can send when they request technical support.

browser type/version and what is supported. Capture the whole string when/if they go to a support page and also look for things like norton firewall.
