Hello Foo-ites!

This week funny pictures are not required to play, but welcomed.

We need 4 different elements to call a winner this week :

The name of the Gizmo
A second official name for the Gizmo
A brief description of what it is
And finally, a link to an animated GIF of it showing how it works.

Here it is [abacus-referencement.com]!

Good luck everyone!

Does it separate anything?

While sometimes the subsance at the output is not the same that one in the intake, separating them is not the main purpose. For some applications, the substance is exactly the same in an out, and you can feed a lot of different stuff in there.

Here is your funny. [hogwild.net] :)

You could pick the Luxury Model [anekdotov.net], the windshield can help, when your "engine" leaks gas.

At least I won't get caught for SPEEDING [images10.fotki.com]

Can/does it combine a liquid and a gas?

It looks as though you can easily buy the parts for a more modern version of the vehicle [funny-games.biz...]

lawman, dont worry about speeding tickets [thedarkcyde.net], anymore.

It does not combine gas and liquids. But it can use compressed air, steam, and all kinds of current fuels to work. It could theorically use nukes at some extent to land man on Mars in 2012.

Another combination of the car and older technology, somehow I don't think this will catch on.

Just bothered to look up how to do this, sorry about the previous ones [cybersalt.org]

Sorry guys, lunch time [funtoosh.com] for me.

Since this one isn't exactly fast paced, I will have a spot checks now and then.

Be patient for your clues.

Tesla turbine (bladeless turbine, boundary layer turbine, cohesion-type turbine, Prandtl layer turbine)?

Macguru

You are closing in [ascocarhire.com] iamlost!

The device can be used as a turbine, it's one of it's multiple theorical possibilities.

Is it to do with high preasure turbo librication.. Somethign that might be used in a jet engine?

Cogenerator Turbine?

Mack.

It does not need much lubrication, can replace a propellor engine and could theorically be used as an hybrid with a jet engine.

It is currently planned to be used in a rhather impressive cogeneration plan. It can be used as a cogeneration turbine.

I think this [funny-games.biz] has to be a very early versio of the Gizmo

Hehe Mack,

Here is a view from inside [abacus-referencement.com].

Notice the casing is almost oval in shape. The rotary engine (Wankel engine) would be it's early version.

Name: Quasiturbine pneumatic-steam model QT75SC

2nd name: Quasiturbine Co-Generation

The Gizmo appears to be a device for extracting heat energy and converting it to useful energy to improve fuel economy. By offering aditional power without using aditional fuel.

Close enough!

We have a winner here! Congrats mack!

Here is another link to it working as a gasoline engine [quasiturbine.promci.qc.ca].

It's a Quasiturbine or Qturbine.

Theorically, it could save up to 60 % in fuel for the same performance. It can be used as a turbine, an engine, a pump or enven a compressor.

Can you host the game next week?

Glad you can host for next week.

I first learned about it when some local college students made a zero emission Go-Kart [quasiturbine.com] (French only) from this prototype engine.

It also pop second place for "hydrogen engine" on Google last time I tried. Very promising prototype.

hehe I cant remember the exact term I used but I did find the go-kart page.

I was convinced it was some sort of gas impeller until you mentioned the rottary engine part.. that got me to thinking.. the steam drives the gizmo, rather than the other way around.

Very good quiz, well done.

Mack.
