I didn't win last week, but was pressed into service because of the winner's previous commitment.

The creator of THIS [images2.fotki.com] Gizmo has given it a specific name.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to 1) provide the exact name, and 2) tell us its intended purpose.

I'm afraid clues will be few and far between since they might tend to lead you in the wrong direction rather than help you.

BTW, it is NOT a pipe of any sort.

Good luck.

How did I miss that hint! DUH! :)

Mac,
Let's see a pic of your stero system. Anyone who knew what that amp was has very fine taste when it comes to audio.

Macguru has an amp? Then he gets the LAST [images2.fotki.com] funny picture.

Now, what is the intended purpose of the Ancient Medical Device?

Contemplation of these machines will, I hope, spark the viewer's curiosity and stimulate their imagination to propel and enable the objects to perform their intended satirical purpose.

on the same site. Ouch.

Close enough coconutz. I don't want to have to drag you guys kicking and screaming to the exact answer. But the "them" is ART.

Whew! Ok coconutz, you are responsible for the next gizmo quiz.

oh man..i didnt copy that (coconutz)part since i though that that is really no description of what this object does but soem excuse why his object has no practical purpose ;)

congratulations coconutz.

thanks for this gizmo lawman..those object sure look very intenresting.. ilike this art..i wonder if ancient people were making things like thistoo with no real meaning and now our scientist are scratching their head when they find thignsl ike this..imagine 500 years from now if they find things like this..what will they think of this?

corporate rape..gulp..

So was the correct word ART, im a little confused on the final answer.

Who should get the prize, the person who finds
the object, or the one who can cut and paste
the description?

Did this object actually exist in ancient times.
Did it have a purpose or is it simply a work of
art?

Do we yet have the full answer, or just an artists
rendition of reality.

No im not on drugs :)

jsut in case if there will be "recount" ,here are BOTH asnwers in one post by one person (that would be me) :)
i would think that both of them answwered jsut part of question..coconutz answered jsut part like defanjos...

Ancient Medical Device

I intend them to be viewed as satirical, comical, and fictitious oddities through which I work to convey ideas and feelings about the dilemmas of modern society. Like a machine, our society needs careful maintenance and fuel to function smoothly, but it is, I believe, running out of energy and beginning to break down.

it definitelly was "gizmo like never before" lawman - in all aspects :)

I was looking for ART but coconutz found the artist's specific intended purpose. Hard to argue with that. However, if coconutz declines his duty, it shall devolve to you, Ign. :)

When I posted the artist's statement for his objects d'art, I did not expect to win; I didn't see your question "Now, what is the intended purpose of the Ancient Medical Device?" until after I posted as I was wandering around looking at the other various gizmos.

To whom it may concern: I chose not to accept the mission set forth by lawman in msg #1. ;)

Congrats to the winner.

BTW, I delayed this for Mivox. Oh Mivox . . .

Much obliged for the delay. However, it against my belief system to use an alarm clock on weekends. My body apparently decided 8am was far too early to let me get out of bed. ;)

That was something else though, lawman. How in the heck did you first find it?

Typed search string in the G searchbar that included the word "Gizmo" in it, saw something that said "Ancient Medical Device", clicked on it, liked it, and voila. I felt like we needed something other than electronics. It intrigued me, looked like a gizmo, and was on a site that had art dedicated to fictitious gizmos. Took me about 30 seconds to find it, and 4 or 5 minutes to decide if it would be worthy of the Gizmo Quiz. I gave fair warning in my preliminary announcement.

I was hoping it would be successful. Seems like it was well received.

Well, it certainly gave us "careful maintenance and fuel to function smoothly".
Excellent quiz (bit short in funny pics though) lawman.
Well done, team!

Ouch. Guess I'll have to keep quiet when someone else is short on funny pix.

Next time I'll make funny pix a priority - the quiz itself will come in second. :)
