Did you get what you wanted for Christmas?
Was something missing under the tree?

msr986, I'm not too big on holidays as a rule, I generally ingnore them. But I got what I wanted because I bought myself a new domain name for Christmas and worked out a design for it, though now after setting up the first few pages, I decided I don't like it after all. Actually, I'm getting it together as a big gift for Inktomi and Froogle, I hope they'll appreciate it. ;)

I did get a couple of unexpected gifts from someone who's very special to me, so that meant a lot. Those gifts were from the heart, a little different from the usual. It's not every day a woman gets a CD with Linux, it's very heartwarming. It's nice to be loved.

I got a phone call from my Dad in Florida. :) He liked the wooly warm slippers I sent him. (only man I know who could complain about the COLD in Florida and mean it!) That was nice.

Too bad I couldn't go to their house instead of the almost-inlaws. ;) That's the plan for next year.

I feel so spoiled and lucky. I live in Wisconsin, USA

My inlaws gave myself and my wife and kids an all inclusive, ten day trip to Florida, five of those days to be spent at Disney World. Also 4 round trip plane tickets to get there and back. Hotel accomodations on the Disney Property... resort to be determined, but it looks like it's going to be "port orleans"

They were so cool about it. They gave us in order, matching mickey mouse T-shirts... I was like... ok... not a huge mickey mouse fan or a matching shirt fan but it's cool, it's the thought that counts. Next was a card with a couple hundered... "Disney Dollars" We were planning and saving for a vacation to florida for our fifth anniversery later next year, so I thought, cool... little pocket money.

Next comes a small box for each of us... four 5 day park hopper passes. Woohoo! now we're getting somewhere!

The final box is opened, it contains an hand written "Coupon" Good for 4 airfares, and hotel stay redeemable middle of October 2003!

THEY JUST SENT US TO DISNEY WORLD! My wife broke down and cryed, jumped up and hugged her mom and dad...

There is NO place in the World my Wife enjoys more than disney world, and I kinda like it myself!;) It is a real obsession.

We are a young couple, I am working very hard trying to run a very small business, and she is a housekeeping manager at a hotel, so we are not from extravagant means so our trip was going to take alot of real sacrifice... not really any more!

Just wanted to share the tale of the most awesome gift I have ever recieved short of my Wife and two beautiful daughters.

Hey mivox, if your dad complains about Florida being cold I guess he's not planning on visiting you anytime soon!

But, a Florida vacation (and a visit with dad) sure sounds nice!

hm... I got me a computer so I don't have to lug the office laptop back and forth... otherwise Christmas this year has been toned down a bit (although I reclaimed some old comic books I forgot at my parents' when I moved out - does that count?).

to me it's been more about giving than receiving anyway - it's so fulfilling to see the faces on people when they open up an unexpected present... that alone is a gift in itself that no one can match.

I got what I wanted. Except a PS2. But if I had that, I wouldn't do anything else.

I BOUGHT what I wanted. My wish list is simply too much for my loved ones to handle. So, I bought a new Task Chair - a Hon 6800 series! Now I can sit on my keyster for longer periods of time surfing through WebmasterWorld! :)

ROFL! Between this and the smokeless ashtray (why no humidor?!), and the fridge, you've got a sure winner.

My girlfriend made me perhaps the best Christmas present. She spent 3 months crocheting me a reading blanket (afgan)and I love it. Any city stick can buy a gift, but having someone make you something is just awesome.

Note I am not saying the other gifts suck. They were nice but you cant beat something someone made.

I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas.

I got a CD I've been wanting (Guy Forsyth), lots of much-overdue time with my family and 3 delightful phone calls (two good friends and one cute boy).

Now, if only it were a little warmer here in New Mexico ...

3ware Escalade 7000-2 IDE RAID card
2x Seagate ST320410A 20.4GB hard drives

My domains are no longer running off of an old Maxtor HD that doesn't get backed up be cause the tape drive is on the floppy controller and the floppy controller died two years ago. (On the motherboard, so I can't easily replace it.)

I think it helped that Santa gets his e-mail from the machine in question. Santa == Dad, and he wants a static IP for the next gift giving occasion so that he can host mx2.our-family.org. Dad barely has a web page, but he knows he wants redundant e-mail :)

My sister has been researching our family tree since the mid-80s. She finally completed it as far back as 1796. Turns out - a relative served in Washington's army!

She gave me the written family tree and 6 pictures (including one of my great grandfather!)

I have to say it was the best present.

My neighbors down the street would no doubt be very upset if they found me out in their pasture shearing their yaks in the middle of winter... it's my impression that the yaks are putting their fur to good use this time of year. ;)
