Replacement for Quake III Arena ... its the time of year for me to get a new game. JonnyWales msg:288110 8:14 pm on Dec 10, 2002 (gmt 0) Any suggestions as to which PC game to get. Quake III was good; the replacement needs to be better. Carnage is a pre-requisite as is some strategy and something which will take a long time to complete and which is fun to repeat. I'm not interested in on-line or multi-player features, just something I can take with me on my frequent journeys away from home.
I know it's sad but it'll keep me happy during the cold and wet months ahead :)

Everquest is consuming a lot of my life just now... :(
Free month trail download (450mb)...damn addictive though...

Unfortunately, we cannot get a fast connection here; limited to 56k. Might take a tad too long to download :( EliteWeb msg:288113 8:26 pm on Dec 10, 2002 (gmt 0)

No One Live Forever 2 is good. Not much carnage, but it's fun to play. Great dialogue and modeling (they really use the Lithtech engine well).
UT 2003 should fulfill your need for carnage, but the system specs are a little high.
SOF 2 is definitely carnage-laden, but it gets a bit boring, if you can believe it.
Battlefield 1942 is mostly multiplayer, but the single player option is fun. You can tweak the settings to provide more of a challenge. Graphics aren't top notch, but it's still fun.
That's off the top of my head, and they're all FPSs. If you want RPGs, let me know. I have some suggestions from fellow gamers on those since I'm not a big fan.
