Is it homemade or was it manufactured? Is it large(car size or larger) or small(smaller than a car).

I doubt if this example is mass produced, if that is what was meant my manufactured.... In fact it was built in a laboratory I believe.
Size = small

It has an 'output', JonB, but I wouldn't call it a generator. And electricity makes it work.

This gizmo was pretty well recieved in it's day, though the inventors had a hard time proving the theory to take the cake.

well,khm..i was totaly lost , i had no idea what could this be. i realized that the only way is to so a "creative thinking" and cehck the "hints" in your post.

after seeing your "hint" where you said "Have added 2nd generation pic" my lightbulb blinked :) i did a search for "2nd generation" and there it was on page 10 or something :)

the strange thing is that i guess google is updating - one time you see it one time you dont!"

[images.google.com...]

right now when i paste this url to urlbar i dont see it. but in one browser i have exactly the same url in urlbar and i hit reload and it is there. update thing i guess?!

i guess i am on my road to win that gizmo quiz award (i forgto whats the name)

here, i am giving away all my tricks :)

Wow Jon, a little vacation in Mexico sure motivated you! ;) I don't think I would have figured that one out on those clues given a month to do it... didn't look anything like a microscope to me.
